WORLD BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS and INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

Madrid, Spain

Sixty (60) countries participated.
The affiliation of Burma was accepted.
President Ben Weider informed that on 11th August, 1987 bodybuilding was officially recognized in the USSR. Mr. Weider was especially proud of this accomplishment, because he had been working toward it since 1952.

First place in the bantamweight class went to Mohamed Lofty of Egypt.


Lightweight winner Mohamed Benaziza represented Algeria.


El Sahat Mabrouk of Egypt took the highest spot in the middleweight.


Czechoslovakia‘s Pavol Jablonicky successfully outmuscled his light-heavy opponents to score a decisive victory.


Luiz Breitas (Brazil) was a clear heavyweight class winner.

The team posing award went to the German team for their imaginative and entertaining presentation.
